A common reason for hair problems is a deficiency of Vitamin C. However, one need not despair. It is found abundantly in Amla (Indian Gooseberry). Amla is a panacea for almost all your hair problems.
Benefits :
Cures hair loss
Regains hair strength and lustre
Stops premature greying
Kills dandruff
Acts as hair conditioner
Enhances natural color when used with henna
A common use procedure:
> Make a smooth paste by mixing roughly 2 teaspoons of amla powder with warm water.
> Then add equal quantity of yoghurt i.e. 2 teaspoons and also 1 teaspoon of honey to the mixture. Beat the mixture well and apply on your hair.
> Let it sit for 20-25 minutes before you wash it off with water.
It can also be combined with soapnut (Reetha) and acacia concinna (Shikakai), for a very good home made shampoo free of any sulphates and parabens.
Amla powder can also be combined with Henna (can be soaked with henna overnight) to tone down the reddish orange shade of henna. It helps prevent fading of indigo. Also, it prevents loosening of curls and waves.
IMPORTANT NOTE : NEVER ADD AMLA DIRECTLY WITH INDIGO AS IT WILL NOT ALLOW INDIGO TO RELEASE ITS DYE.
DON’T USE TEA, LEMON JUICE, OR APPLE CIDER VINEGAR IN ANY OF THE HENNA COLORS WHEN USING AMLA.
